The FDA has approved booster shots for those who received the Moderna and the Johnson and Johnson vaccines.
The Moderna shots will be half doses for those who received their second dose at least six months ago and will go to the same groups that have been eligible for the Pfizer booster. The boosters shot for J&J will be those who received their initial shot at least two months ago.
The FDA will also allow the mixing and matching of vaccine shots for those who want it, so that those who received the J&J shot, for example, can now get Pfizer vaccine as their booster.
Further the Biden administration is preparing to ensure supplies are available for children from ages five to eleven who are likely to become eligible for the Pfizer vaccine as soon as the FDA gives emergency approval, probably this month.

The CDC reports that 79.1% of Americans over the age of 18 have received at least one dose of Covid vaccine, a number which may reach 80% by November. Some 68.6% of adults are fully vaccinated.
For senior Americans, 95.9% have received one dose of vaccine, 84.5% are fully vaccinated and 15.3% have received a third booster shot.
All the additional vaccinations should lift the overall immunity of the US population.
Hawaii is the most vaccinated state with 92.1% of adults receiving at least one shot. West Virginia is the only state under 60% with only 57.9% of those over 18 receiving a dose of vaccine.
Also restrictions on fully vaccinated foreign visitors to the US will be lifted on November 8. Travel has been limited to essential travelers.
