One warm heart can melt a million icy souls.
“I know they don’t have electricity. No restaurants. No running water. I just figured I would do what I could do. So I showed up with some food and some water.”
-Jim Finch, December 13th, 2021
A man named Jim Finch packed a truckload of food and his grill and took it to Mayfield, KY to help the stricken townspeople at least have food and water.
Who is Jim Finch? Well, he does not have a restaurant. He was born in Paducah, KY and appears to be in his late 30’s or early 40’s. And he says, “it just needed to be done.” He brought grab n’ go food, simple stuff as he calls it to help feed a town with no public services due to the monstrous tornado.
He brought food, water, and a humble demeanor and empathy in his heart.
We would like to extend our thoughts and positive energy to the families affected by the storms that passed through the midwest and southern states. In hard-hit Kentucky, one man, Jim Finch, is being hailed for stepping up in a major way to aid families during this tough time.
Journalist Victor Ordoñez approached Finch during his charitable act in Mayfield, Ky., where the residents are still recovering from the wide swath of storms that ripped through Kentucky and five other states, leaving behind a path of death and destruction that is unfathomable. FInch, who was born in Paducah, Ky., says he came from a good distance from the town of Carrsville.
Ultimately I did not find a lot about Mr. Finch, and then it occurred to me that is ok. We don’t need to know if Jim Finch is famous, or wealthy, or owns a restaurant. We don’t need to know who his favorite football team is or what ice cream he likes. No, we just need to know that Jim Finch is.
That there is one Jim Finch among us, shows that there are still good people among us. If Jim Finch is not interested in fame, or credit, that is just fine.
Not all heroes wear capes. Some are quite happy behind the scenes-
Helping us all to soar.
