The decade of the 1960s has been labeled the Schizophrenic Sixties by some histories. In the automotive world, there was competition between two major luxury cars: Chrysler and Cadillac. This was an era in which more women were entering the workforce—a fact ignored by American automobile manufacturers who were unaware that women were buying cars—and the average household size was shrinking to 3.7 persons.
