The members of the Democratic Club participating in the Christmas Parade were marching behind their banner. Democrats in this red district are usually outshouted by Republicans, mainly because Democrats are smaller in number and still have the manners Republicans discarded far too long ago. Many of the Democrats along the parade route smiled and waived or gave the thumbs up sign when they saw the Democratic Club's banner. But the few Democrats who cheered and applauded the Democratic club were drowned out by Republican cretins chanting “Lets go Brandon.” For those of you who do not have a strong enough stomach to follow the right wing idiocies, “lets go Brandon” has become a euphemism for "fuck Biden!"
Sadly that is what the Republican Party has become – a very dangerous huddle of frightened, greedy, hateful fascists who cannot accept the results of legitimate elections or understand anything more complex than the vulgar chant they shout in defiance of the wonderful message of peace on earth and good will to all people.
Ah, but it is not all doom and gloom. The good news is that there are still good people who actually care about others and invite all to join them in celebrating our common humanity in this season of joy. The members of the Democratic club responded to the vulgar chants by wishing “happy holidays” to one and all. Those Democrats are my friends and neighbors, and I cannot begin the tell you how proud I am of them!
