It’s Monday. Why not?
Page notes for video:
Speaker Pelosi has correctly called for the equivalent of the 9/11 Commission to investigate Trump's Coup. But the lessons of Watergate show that even the kind of painstaking, meticulous ferreting out of the truth, spread over weeks and months, needs a second component.
President Biden can stay as far away from this as he likes. But his Department of Jusice must appoint a Special Counsel to work in concert with the investigation, and to prosecute Trump, his seditionist and inciting flunkies like Peter Navarro and Trump Junior, and his allies in the House and Senate like Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Jim Jordan, and the others.
The impeachment of Trump probably scared him away from issuing pardons to the Coup conspirators and even himself. And if there was a practical value to the trial it was this: dozens of GOP Senators insisted the jurisdiction for prosecuting Trump was the courts, not the impeachment process.
Very well. Let's investigate and indict our American Julius Sleazier.
