Opinion by Hal Brown
Needless to say, both Donald Trump and Andrew Cuomo are in trouble. They used to bask in the warn sunshine embracing them in a sense of invulnerability. Now both are under assault by the legal system. Yesterday I put together a screen shot just from RAWSTORY of two days worth of articles about the legal peril Trump is in.
Here (enlarge) are the first 10 articles in a Google News search for Andrew Cuomo:
It stuck me that two photographs, both very different in what they depicted, were almost the same in how they showed starkly how the mighty had fallen.
Here’s the full photograph of Trump stooping with his head bent forward as he reaches to balance himself as he steps up to the less than stable looking folding stairway as he gets on the private jet. According to this article, the Trump organization (which is now in legal peril) owns a Cessna Citation X and the Boeing 757 used as his campaign plane.
Another article: Downsizing: Donald Trump flying a Cessna while his Boeing 757 remains parked
Trump, supposedly 6’2” tall has to travel on a jet which has headroom of 5’7’ so he doesn’t only have to bend over to walk into the plane, he has to hunch over to walk around inside the plane.
He’s used to Air Force One with it’s boardroom, sofas, and private areas. Of course the Cessna by comparison has none of these features.
Nice for you and I, shabby for Trump.
Now about the one photo of Andrew Cuomo.
It probably prompted the governor to ask himself “what the hell was I thinking when I went outside wearing a blanket?” It was used in this New York Times story:
The Times used a photo of Cuomo and his daughter walking on the grounds of the mansion in street clothes for the link to the story on their front page.
HUFFPOST also used it:...
as did MSNBC:
The blanket photos sparked videos like this:
In their glory Fox News published this:
Andrew Cuomo blanket photo sparks Twitter frenzy, comparison to ‘Peanuts’ character Linus
It included these tweets:
Business Insider had an article speculating on what was in the blue bottle he was carrying.
While Insider could not confirm the brand, it appears to be the New York staple Saratoga Spring Water. (Twitter seems to agree, though it's not clear if it is still or sparkling.) Saratoga calls itself the "premium product of choice for America's most sophisticated consumers," according to the company website. The water company goes on to say it prides itself for its "iconic cobalt blue glass bottles."
The Poll:
Yesterday I published this poll about what you think will be Trump’s eventual fate (enlarge image). Today scroll down and weigh in on Cuomo.
I didn't want to make the Cuomo poll too long with extra choices including various contingencies. Obviously he could decide to resign at any point in the impeachment and trial process, and his decision may depend on how likely he thinks conviction is. For the purpose of the poll select resignation no matter when he decides to resign.
