“I didn’t break any windows,” Jacob Chansley said during the interview with 60 Minutes+ that aired March 4. “I didn’t break any doors. I didn’t cross any police barricades. I was peaceful. I was civil. I was calm.”
But a federal judge, who last week ordered Chansley to remain behind bars pending trial, insists the accused rioter “blatantly lied” during the interview about his easy entrance into the Capitol. And he has the receipts to prove it.
On Tuesday, the court released two videos to debunk Chansley’s claim, showing the chaos outside the Capitol on Jan. 6 as thousands of MAGA supporters smashed through the building’s windows. In the first video, first obtained by Law & Crime, Chansley is seen standing on scaffolding and holding an American flag above a sea of rioters being held back by law enforcement.

One of the videos shows Chansley — shirtless and wearing horns and face paint — holding an American flag atop scaffolding while rioters clashed with police officers beneath him.
A second video shows Chansley walking through a door to the Capitol, adjacent to a window smashed by dozens of rioters. As people climbed through broken windows, Chansley walked through the door and someone is heard yelling, “This is our house!”
The clips do not show who opened the door.
“Not only is defendant unable to offer evidence substantiating his claim that he was waved into the Capitol, but evidence submitted by the government proves this claim false,” Lamberth wrote in a searing memorandum earlier this month denying Chansley’s motion for release.

When deciding to keep Jacob Chansley behind bars pending trial, a federal judge wrote that the rioter who became known as the “QAnon Shaman” had “blatantly lied” in his 60 Minutes+ interview by claiming that authorities left the door open for the pro-Trump mob to enter. The court just released two videos debunking Chansley’s claim.
The two compelling videos document the chaos on the scene as rioters smashed through the windows of the U.S. Capitol building.
The network also interviewed Martha Chansley, the accused rioter’s mother, whose dubious remarks that her son “walked through open doors” and was “escorted into the Senate” did her son no favors.
The FBI continues to seek the public’s assistance in identifying individuals who participated in unlawful conduct during the Capitol Insurrection.
