Boise State Public Radio reports that Montana Governor Gregg Gianforte was given a written warning for trapping and killing a wolf on private land in Montana on February 15th. The warning was related to his violation of Montana state hunting regulation’s requirement to complete a wolf trapping certification course.

To make this story more interesting, the violation occurred on the private ranch of Robert Smith, director of the Sinclair Broadcasting Group.
Gianforte is of course most famous for “body-slamming” a reporter for The Guardian in 2017. Add this incident to his growing list of consequence free corruption and lawlessness. The governor, who should know better and be held to a higher standard, was given a written warning and allowed to keep the wolf’s pelt and skull.
Montana is heading down a dark path with near-total GOP control of the state government. Gianforte and his rich friends will have their way with the citizens, resources and wildlife of this great state.
