As some of you may have heard, Sara R needs your words of love and hope.
The bad news? The original quilting sister of Daily Kos has cancer.
The good news? Sara R’s doctors are pretty sure the squamous cell oral carcinoma has not yet spread beyond her mouth. So, her prognosis is very good.
Nevertheless, the Betsy Ross of Daily Kos is about to undergo MAJOR surgeries to remove the tumor. Several teeth, as well as part of her lower jaw, will be removed. Skin grafts from elsewhere on her body will be used to reconstruct part of the inside of her mouth. She is staring down at least several months of grueling recovery.
And so, just as Sara R and her sister winglion usually do for others, we are going to make for her a special quilt of love and healing. Our very own BeadLady is doing the quilting for this project, and I will be transcribing Kosacks’ personal messages onto the quilt in archival ink. Our beloved Angela Marx has been organizing this entire endeavor.

Because the surgery will be putting Sara R out of commission for a spell, we are also raising money for her (while she waits for her Disability application to process).
