If we humans are to successfully adapt to climate change, we first have to reestablish our connection with the natural world. It is our hyper-separation from nature that has largely created and continues to perpetrate the problem.
If that’s an idea that rings true to you, you might be interested in Full Ecology: Repairing our Relationship with the Natural World, a book that will be released this year on Earth Day, which is next Thursday, April 22. To launch the book, the authors (one of whom is my sister :D ) are hosting a virtual Walk in the Wild which, if nothing else, looks like it will be chock-full of gorgeous nature photography.
Did I mention that one of the authors is my sister? It’s true. And guess what? The other author is my brother-in-law. Mary Clare is a social-cultural psychologist and Gary Ferguson is a long-time nature writer. I’ve had the privilege of listening to bits and pieces of their thinking as they collaborated to create this book, and I’m excited to see it hitting the presses this week. I’m very proud of both of them.
Here’s the trailer for the Walk in the Wild event.
