Good morning, all. I missed the tail end of Day 4 but from what I read, it ended with retired police Sergeant David Pleoger who was Chauvin’s supervisor on the day he murdered George Floyd. Compelling part of his testimony: He confirmed that kneeling is a use of force, and that the restraint “should stop” once a subject “is handcuffed and no longer resisting.” WaPo story of Day 4. According to a bit in the NYT, today will be an abbreviated schedule. WaPo panelist said the judge will adjourn at noon because it has been a stressful week.
For an excellent summary, please read Lauren Floyd’s 'Can I pray with you?' Floyd's girlfriend reveals side of him jury hadn't yet seen. I watch via Washington Post. You can also watch via The New York Times, and multiple other outlets like CSpan and YouTube.
WaPo panelist Holly Baily (not sure if she’s a lawyer but she is a political reporter) said that today’s witnesses would be more police officers, another supervisor, the ER doctor. Seems like a lot to squeeze in the morning.
