I remember sitting in the middle of a Hawai’i Democratic State meeting, speaking to candidates and members as they celebrated a great year. The governor offered food, and candidates provided a fantastic set of nights talking about what they valued for their state and country. As Jason Kander, one of their presenters, spoke, discussion in the progressive caucus showed a sense of real divide regarding then Representative Gabbard. Was she the progressive champion she proclaimed herself to be? Or something else?
During the 2020 campaign, I said what I felt: Tulsi Gabbard was never a candidate who represented anything that should be considered progressive. Never. Her appearances on Fox News to bash other Democrats, to refuse to address issues in her own past, but Friday, Tulsi Gabbard went even beyond her normal lows.
Anti-white racism. Tulsi Gabbard for years has used absolute hyperbole to make ridiculous claims in order to get attention. This is who she is—and who I believe she has been for quite some time. When I wrote earlier pieces about my dislike for Gabbard, I could sense the pushback: but she’s one of us!
Please.
Gabbard is not one of anything: she is an opportunist first, second, third, and fourth. There is no anti-white racism. There isn’t systemic racism against white people. That problem exists in Tulsi’s mind and her desire to be a hot guest on Fox News, become relevant again, and try to either run for office or get a book deal.
Sorry, Tulsi. I said it before: your campaign for president was a miserable, offensive showing where you refused to back off of troubling ideas and doubled down on complete crap. Your attempt to re-find relevancy by pulling this stunt makes it easier for people to see you for who you really are—a fraud that will pretend to be whatever it takes, to hell with principles.
