This is something that I ran across while checking out today’s news.
On October 17, 2020, at a Phoenix BLM/George Floyd protest, fifteen demonstrators were arrested and charged as being “gang members” because they were Black and carried umbrellas. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office pressed charges, and an ABC15 investigation found the bureau repeatedly presented false information and testimony to grand juries. The charges were dismissed earlier this year, but several prosecutors have been under investigation.
Today, Sherry Leckrone (chief of the First Responders Bureau) resigned.
A week ago, Vice Goddard (a division chief, and Leckrone’s boss at the FRB) resigned as well, which will become effective on May 31.
The chickens have come home to roost.
