Good Morning and Welcome to all the SMGB regulars and visitors. And we hope those of you who drop by do that often. This is a blog about all kinds of gardening and the various items that go along with it. Please comment, ask questions, and especially share your garden/plant related photos. SMGB LOVES PHOTOS! And today’s diary has lots of them. I’ve been snapping pics all May and early June around my neighborhood. We had cold spring weather then hot then more cold. A little rain and then NO rain for what seemed like weeks. I was getting concerned that gardens would not do well and that some plants would not even come up this year. But, Nature is amazing. Come along with me around my wonderful neighborhood with it’s wonderful gardeners and the beauty spots they create…..
IRIS! I noticed LOTS of yellow Iris this spring. And I think that’s a Tulip in back. You can see how this cluster of Iris was going to bloom spectacularly.
More yellow…..these Columbine fairly glow in the photo.
I love this pink and yellow Peony. And it was blossoming out nicely the day I discovered it. I had a nice Garden Chat with the owner.
Another Peony! Some of them have simpler petal arrangements. I definitely want to find one of these for my gardens.
Does anyone know what kind of bush this is? I have seen them in yards since I was a child. Not particularly scented.
Not everything that pops out of the ground in spring is a flower. I just love this succulent planted in the rock. I think this does put out a flower at some point. It's from one of my favorite gardens and that has low growing Cactus, too.
Tell me what this is! I have also seen it in pale lavender and pale pink. Nice two tone Sedum below.
More Iris! In a church’s garden. About 1/3 of the patch.
Some kind of bush Lilac? It’s very strongly scented.
A lot of Lupines showed up in this yard after this one. The owner was so nice and said yes when I previously asked if I could take photos. More in the future.
Large Alliums! Very nice arrangement next to the tree.
Love the peach/pink color of this Tulip.
Another nice look next to a tree’s bark. Lambs Ears with, I think, a bit of a Sedum coming up below it.
Columbines come multi colored as well as in single colors.
Hosta and Japanese Painted Fern. Both grew a lot bigger as time went on.
Love the look of these Iris and Alliums together. I learn a lot about plant arrangement from seeing what other folks do in their gardens.
I hope you enjoyed this quick tour! I will do another later in the summer or early fall. You never know what will pop out of the ground next.
What’s coming up in your yard?
