“the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. ... ”
I didn’t believe it when Wayne LaPuke said it back in 2012, and the proof of its fallacy just keeps pouring in.
A few days ago, in the public square in Old Town Arvada, Colorado, a suburb of Denver that I happen to know well, a good guy with a gun (a real hero named Johnny Hurley) saw a bad guy with a gun (a real bad guy named Ronald Troyke.) He saw him shoot and kill an Arvada police officer (Officer Gordon Beesley.) Hurley saw the bad guy exchanging one gun for another and shot and killed the bad guy with his own hand gun.
APD says Troyke got out of his truck with a semi-automatic shotgun, ran after Beesley, yelled at him and then shot him twice as soon as he turned.
APD says Troyke then went back to his truck and got an AR-15, then returned to Olde Town Square, where he was confronted by Hurley. APD says Hurley shot the suspect with a handgun.

Someone had called in earlier about the real bad guy Troyke. The cops were on their way. It’s a tragedy. They got there just after the good guy with a gun had killed the bad guy, taken the AR-15 from him. Up rolled the cops and...
Bang. Good guy with a gun is dead.
For more information on the incident, visit www.cnn.com/… or simply google Arvada Police. Sadly, I already know all I need to know.
Guns kill people. Good people, mostly. Even when guns are fired by good people, people die. Lots of good people.
