It’s a well known meme: Republicans love to misuse the noun Democrat when they should properly use the adjective Democratic: “the Democrat party”, “the radical socialist Democrat agenda”, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
It’s “owning the libs” , so they particularly relish saying it even if they actually do remember enough of their primary school education to know the difference between a noun and an adjective.
So what is Joe Manchin’s excuse where he misused it twice in one interview today ...
I don’t think, right now, basically, we need to be bipartisan. If we can’t become — I’ve always said this. I’ve never seen a pothole that had a Republican or Democrat name on it. It’ll bust your tire, I don’t care who you are.

My Democrat colleagues have known me for over ten years.

I don’t think I could sum it better than Obama ...
PS Update: This post was meant as satire. Obviously Joe Manchin is not an actual Republican. Yes, if not him, then probably an actual Republican in his place. And he did vote for Schumer for leader. And he did vote for the ARA. And he does often vote with Democrats. AND he misuses the name of his own party at least some times.
