I posed the question about whether Trump is pretending to believe outlandish conspiracy theories to gin up his base or does really believe them the other day in this diary:

Above is the audio from a Fox Business interview yesterday with Stuart Varney. Trump stated with great confidence that Facebook paid hundreds of millions for "phony lockboxes" that accounted for "96 percent Biden votes.” He claimed with what seemed like genuine horror and outrage that "they were like just dumping ballots, it was a phony deal!"
Was he really horrified and outraged by this or was this method acting?
Method Acting: A technique of acting in which an actor aspires to complete emotional identification with a part, based on the system evolved by Stanislavsky and brought into prominence in the US in the 1930s. Method acting was developed by Elia Kazan and Lee Strasberg in particular, and is associated with actors such as Marlon Brando and Dustin Hoffman. Oxford Lexico
Some method actors like Robert DeNiro and Jim Carrey stay in character even between takes.
If this was the former it is yet more evidence that Trump is clinically delusional. If the later this suggests Trump is the political equivalent of Marlon Brando playing Col. Kurtz uttering his most famous lines, his last words before he died in the Joseph Conrad novel “The Heart of Darkness” and in “Apocalypse Now.”
The Stuart Varney interview should be played for all Republican members of Congress. I’d like to see Republicans from Mitch McConnell on down respond to Trump’s words.
Of course when Kurtz utters these words both in the Joseph Conrad novel “The Heart of Darkness” which takes place in the Congo, and “Apocalypse Now” in Vietnam most critics say this was a final reflection on his own life, actions, and generally on humankind and imperialism. Ref.
I can't imagine what Trump’s final words will be except to say that there’s no way he’ll show the slightest bit of remorse for how he lived his life.
