The contest to be the stupidest Republican in Congress is an active one. Occasionally, some story on dK will suggest that a new piece of idiocy will threaten Rep. Gohmert’s title as the absolute stupidest congressman of all time. In a recent committee meeting, he’s quashed all such speculation.
It was about the Bureau of Land Management’s efforts to mitigate Global Warming. Gohmert asked whether they had considered doing so by changing the orbit of the earth or the moon.
When this led to a great deal of public levity outside the committee, Gohmert complained that most of the humorists had ignored that it was a discussion of the actions of the BLM. How he thought that was a defense, I’m not clear.
