Correction: After publication of this story, the Justice Department and Commerce Department inspector general revealed additional information to indicate the declination to prosecute took place during the Trump administration. This story has been corrected to note this information.

As everyone was up in arms yesterday about the DOJ’s apparent decision—allegedly by AG Garland—not to prosecute Wilbur Ross, it turns out that this was not AG Garland’s decision at all.

This is a big correction from Government Exec, which had said in a subheading yesterday that the Wilbur Ross declination occurred during the Biden administration.
