By now, most of you have seen that Rep. Adam Kinzinger, one of the few Republicans in the House still willing to be an American first and a Republican second, has agreed to serve on the select committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection.
We expected to see Trumpworld howl in outrage. But Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s reaction may be one of the worst of all. She actually called her colleague from Illinois a traitor.
No, this isn’t snark. Thus tweeteth the Mad Georgian:
Let’s see: Kinzinger is a decorated Air Force pilot who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and still serves as a lieutenant colonel in the Air National Guard. All told, he has served his country for the better part of 18 years.
While we may disagree with Kinzinger on policy, you cannot question his service. And you cannot question that he understands the part of his oath that calls for defending this country “against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” Obviously Greene missed that part.
Riddle me this, Marjorie. If you’re so brave that you’re willing to tweet this screed out worldwide, are you brave enough to call Kinzinger a traitor to his face? After all, you were brave enough to heckle a teenager on the streets of Washington, D.C., call for Democrats to be assassinated, and blast out the private cell phone number of a private citizen.
Then again, if Greene believes a Republican serving on a committee to investigate treasonous conduct is itself an act of treason, it’s yet more proof that she is unfit to clean the House, let alone serve in it. And it is yet more proof that we must not even chance allowing her to be empowered.
