I am getting ready to send a package across the country to my son in California, and find myself wondering what means I should use to send it. Up until last year I’ve always been happy with the service provided by the USPS, both for personal packages and in the course of my husband’s and my retail business fulfilling orders from my customers. We sold our business in February, so sending packages has dropped from my radar in the months since then, but now I am reminded of the horrendous decline in the USPS level of service due to Louis DeJoy being Post Master General…
...and, hey, why the heck is Louis DeJoy still Post Master General? Things have been pretty quiet on that front, and I wonder what is taking so long to get rid of him?
I did some googling to see if any news of his firing might have gone unnoticed, but nothing. I did, however, stumble across this notice about the upcoming USPS Board of Governors meeting on August 6, and noted that it is open to the public. Furthermore, there will be a 60 minute period open to the public to comment on any item on the agenda (#6 Quarterly Service Performance Report might be the appropriate subject to bring up DeJoy). Commenters need to register in order to comment, but if nothing else, it would be great if the public could show up in force just to let them know we are watching…
The meeting is at Postal Service headquarters, 475 L’Enfant Plaza, SW, Washington, DC. “The public is welcome to observe the meeting beginning at 9:00 a.m. ET in the Benjamin Franklin Room on the11th floor.”
Update: Thank you to Robert Norman for this link if you want to email comments to the USPS Commission.
Update 2: Several commenters have taken the time to check out the link recommended by Robert Norman and found that is for the Postal Regulatory Commission, which is not the same as the USPS Governing Board. While it keeps an eye on the USPS in an advisory role, it does not control the USPS. Please see Albertabun's comment and TrueBlueMajority’s response to it. I apologize for not investigating the link other than making sure it was a valid link.
