Today President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr.
sent out a public statement on the 6th month anniversary of the #Jan6th violent assault on the Capitol Building where the US Congress was certifying his election of as the duly elected next president of the United States.
Statement by President Joe Biden on the Six-Month Anniversary of the January 6th Insurrection on the Capitol
Not even during the Civil War did insurrectionists breach our Capitol, the citadel of our democracy. But six months ago today, insurrectionists did. They launched a violent and deadly assault on the people’s house, on the people’s representatives, and on the Capitol police sworn to protect them, as our duly elected Congress carried out the sacred ritual of our republic and certified the Electoral College vote.
This was not dissent. It was disorder. It posed an existential crisis and a test of whether our democracy could survive—a sad reminder that there is nothing guaranteed about our democracy.
But while it shocked and saddened the nation and the world, six months later, we can say unequivocally that democracy did prevail—and that we must all continue the work to protect and preserve it. That requires people of goodwill and courage to stand up to the hate, the lies, and the extremism that led to this vicious attack, including determining what happened so that we can remember it and not bury it hoping we forget. It requires all of us working together—Democrats, Republicans, and independents—on behalf of the common good to restore decency, honor, and respect for the rule of law. And it impels our government—both the executive and legislative branches—to take the urgent steps needed to protect the fundamental right to vote.
It also requires all of us to remember who we are as a nation at our best—and that we are so much better than what we saw on January 6th. We are the United States of America, and over the last few months we have shown what we can do when we come together—beat a deadly virus, get our economy going again, and prove that democracy can deliver for the people.
On this day, Jill and I send our condolences again to the families of the U.S. Capitol Police officers who lost their lives or suffered severely in defense of our democracy. We pray for them and for our nation.
Together, let us demonstrate to ourselves, and to the world, the enduring strength and the limitless capacity and goodness of who we are as Americans.

I fully understand that Biden was elected President of the United States, and intended as a candidate and appears to continue to intend as the sitting President to act as and be the president of All of The People, equitably.
But it’s one thing to continue to reach out directly in statements like this to The People thru media of all kinds; it’s another to continue to try publicly to shame the disloyal opposition into acting better, Biden does in this part of his public statement:
It requires all of us working together—Democrats, Republicans, and independents—on behalf of the common good to restore decency, honor, and respect for the rule of law. And it impels our government—both the executive and legislative branches—to take the urgent steps needed to protect the fundamental right to vote.
How can anyone who has watched the behavior and words of the elected Republicans in the Congress and the State Legislatures since that January 6, 2021 violent, physical assault on the very action which has become enshrined as the heart of our democracy — the peaceful passing of power from one president to the next duly elected president by the VP and the Congress certifying the ballots of the various state Electoral College voters — can think that in any fashion these people are planning to “restore decency, honor and respect for the rule of law?
Senator Mitch McConnell has PUBLICLY denounced his support for any actions of president Biden, just as he once did about the presidency of Barack H. Obama:
The Republicans in State legislatures have been busy enacting new laws on Voting, hellbent on manipulating elections in every way possible, to try and retain their grasp on power:
As of June 21, 17 states enacted 28 new laws that restrict access to the vote. With some state legislatures still in session, more laws will certainly follow, which we will track in the next roundup later this year.
More restrictions on the vote are likely to become law, as roughly one-third of legislatures are still in session. Indeed, at least 61 bills with restrictive provisions are moving through 18 state legislatures. More specifically, 31 have passed at least one chamber, while another 30 have had some sort of committee action (e.g., a hearing, an amendment, or a committee vote). Overall, lawmakers have introduced at least 389 restrictive bills in 48 states in the 2021 legislative sessions.
At the same time, at least 880 bills with expansive provisions have been introduced in 49 states. Of these, at least 28 bills with expansive provisions have been signed into law in 14 states. At least 115 bills with expansive provisions are moving in 25 states: 45 have passed at least one chamber, and 70 have had some sort of committee action.

Our new President, Joe Biden, has accomplished far more
than I ever expected this quickly, with Republican Mitch McConnell as Minority Leader of the Senate stymying as much of Biden’s agenda as possible, just as he did when Obama was president.
But even so, this kind and historic language aimed at the Republicans under the former guy and the self-proclaimed “Grim Reaper” just seems to be an empty gesture. Because there is not an iota of evidence that there will be any “decency, honor” or respect for the rule of any Law signed by any Democratic President and most certainly, not the current president.
The trouble is, as Maya Angelou once said
I believe, with all of the problems in this world that our generation and those of our children and grandkids and every future generation face and will continue to face for as far as we can imagine, that it is time for the leadership of the Liberal and Rational side of the political aisle in these United State to accept and acknowledge the reality of the batshit crazy conservatives who don’t care about the future or our Constitution or their own Sworn Duty to protect and defend it from all enemies, both foreign and domestic.
Because they ARE a bunch of domestic enemies at this point. They ignore the Constitution when it suits them, they repeat endlessly the lies and Big Lies of the former guy, whom they refused to Impeach even AFTER that unmitigated asshole urged and promoted the idea that his supporters should leave his address to them and walk on over to the Capitol Bldg and “stop the steal” of his re-election.
We should expect no “decency and honor” from them. They’ve told us it will not be forthcoming — because that behavior won’t help them retain the power they’ve been wielding in the Congress and the state Legislature since 56 wealthy, old, white men set pen to parchment and signed their names onto this Declaration of Independence on July 2, 1776.
Shouldn’t president Joe Biden be aware of their perfidy and behave towards them accordingly?
I think he should.
