Why schedule next debt ceiling vote for Dec 2022?

Simple question, but I haven’t seen an explanation anywhere. Why are Dems setting the next debt ceiling deadline for Dec 2022? Can someone explain?  Given the likelihood that at least part of Congress flips in the next election, why are Dems setting themselves up to shoulder the entire legislative burden again, potentially weeks after losing their majorities. Why not shift some of the burden back to Reps? I don’t get the rationale. Does anyone know?
