13 FITZPATRICK FAILURES
Congressman Fitzpatrick:
America is seething in a multitude of fundamental crises and you ignore them in your weekly newsletter, choosing this week instead to score cheap political points on the once seemingly endless Afghanistan War which our bold brave President has finally ended. My views on that subject were expressed to you last week and since you continue to fail to speak the truth on that costly war, I submitted my views to local newspapers and was lucky to have them shared with your constituents in the Sunday Courier-Times and Intelligencer.

I hope you take the time to learn the real meaning of this tragic war so you can no longer fall into the trap of using your Congressional authority to risk the precious lives of our sons and daughters in pointless foreign excursions that inevitably lead to the sad loss of life, pointless destruction, the hostility of other peoples, corruption of puppet regimes, and war-profiteering for the rich.
CRISES IN AMERICA
But meanwhile, while you harp on the aftermath of war, you ignore critical domestic problems facing our own country. So many problems have come to the forefront in so many critical areas. I list but a few, most of them exacerbated by the ideology and policies of your Republican Party:
The Attack on our Democracy
The Propagation of The Big Lie
The Attack on Women’s Rights
The Propagation of Science-Denying COVID Conspiracies Threatening Public Health
Failure to Respond to Climate Change Which is Creating Deadly Weather Events
The Ever-growing Income Inequality In Our Socioeconomic System
The Critical Need For Massive Investments In Both Physical and Human Infrastructure
Blindness to Systemic Racism in Our Society
You either remain silent about these issues or provide bland tepid responses designed to falsely paint your political image as an “independent moderate.” And then, despite this image, you then so often vote along with your obstructionist Republican herd to do nothing to improve our country, but in fact, to tear away the foundations of our democracy, to exacerbate income inequality, to strip away women’s rights and freedom, to ignore racial prejudice, etc..
So here are reminders of just 13 of your recent failures to address the real crises facing America, not the crisis in Afghanistan you raise simply to score political points against our wise compassionate President who has finally ended this sad twenty year long chapter in our nation’s history.

We yearn for a leader who will take a principled stand on the critical issues facing our nation today and not one who instead simply focuses on carving a political image designed to fool voters in the next election. We need a Congressperson who will protect our democracy, defend women’s rights, boldly rebuild our ailing infrastructure, eliminate systemic racism, and attack income inequality by supporting the values and economic opportunities of ordinary Americans, not the rich. We need a Congressperson who has the courage to meet constituents face to face to discover their needs and concerns. We grow tired of the silence, the political image-crafting, and perpetual inaction. America has real problems to solve and therefore we need a leader who has the courage to confront them and the wisdom and determination to solve them in bold creative ways. Is it 2022 yet?
