Got my taxes done and submitted on Thursday. Qualified for free filing through the IRS site. Refunds from both, though the federal one isn’t as large as I was hoping for.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Have I mentioned I rather like jazz?
Previously unknown ruins of a Roman town have been found in the UK. Archaeologists have found enough to trace its development, it seems.
Some recipes from The Guardian.

This is something we all need to hear sometimes. Sometimes more often. Be kind to yourself.

The family meeting last week went as well as could be expected — not very. But a couple of things were agreed and we will see if the agreement sticks. My daughter went with me since some plans the kids had fell through. This was all to the good. We will see what happens.
My sister-in-law the physical therapist (retired) and EMT says Mom is physically lightyears ahead of most people her age who have surgery to fix a broken hip. Mom is also in more pain than she wants to admit and very cranky — I do come by that tendency very honestly after all.

My firstborn starts the new job officially on the first. Apparently, she moved her stuff to her new desk last week.
My son-in-law apparently caught COVID about the same time my grandkids did. My firstborn succumbed about a week later. Universal Studios is the suspect for where they caught it, and my firstborn wasn’t actually there. So far, my secondborn and I have avoided it. Neither of us expects to continue so lucky, but we’re working on it.

I had to explain to my grandson that dropping my keys on the back seat (admittedly where they were mostly hidden by the seatbelt) does not constitute returning them to me. He has promised to, from now on, put them in my hand. Not that he’s going to be handed them for a while. I did find out that I am again up to walking a mile and a half, though it does take about twice as long as it used to.
And on Thursday, he forgot the bag of goodies that was his contribution to the class party. I don’t know what the party was for. I just know that as soon as I got back in from delivering him to school, his mother called and asked me to take the bag to him. I did. The office clerk said he was a very lucky boy. I do hope he realizes this.
Friday was a no-school day, so my grandson came over and helped me clean my floors. They are as vacuumed as a 10-year-old and his not-into-cleaning-floors grandmother could get them. Saturday, I mopped. Won’t have to do this again for another several months.

I don’t recall ever hearing about Carhartt before I saw it written about in a couple of stories here. I decided to try a couple of their products. The thermal knit hoodie is nice and warm. The t-shirts arrived yesterday — I haven’t worn them yet.

Love you guys!
