It’s on my calendar to stay home. I may actually do some laundry.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Whetstones were exceedingly important to the ancient Norse peoples. They are one of the commonest things found in archaeological digs.
Camouflage as done by insects.
An article about the Inquisition’s trial of a Muslim slave on Malta in 1605 for practicing assorted forms of magic, including summoning demons — his defense on that one was that if he could do that, he wouldn’t be a slave on Malta. The article’s title is a bit misleading.
Guardians of the Deep. Artworks sunk in a stretch of ocean off the coast of Italy to discourage illegal trawling.
Ancient Maya cities appear to have been heavily polluted with mercury. Archaeologists blame it on the use of cinnabar for many reasons.
Restoration of Notre Dame’s smoke-damaged stained glass has begun.
A brief history of crannogs.
A recipe from The Guardian. Five-spice duck with roast plums and crisp potatoes. Me? Like duck? What gives you that idea? At the end, there are suggestions for tweaking it so as to not use duck — they sound good, too.

I got my third booster on Wednesday. Wiped me out. Still wiped on Thursday. I went back to bed after taking my grandson to school and got about an hour’s nap. I felt much better.
A six-block jog between two major sections of the marathon route runs right past the north end of the apartment complex where I live. I know I’ve mentioned this before. Hasn’t changed.
Indulged in pre-ordering a new style of Kindle.
I have reached the two-steps-forward, half-a-step-back stage on getting back to full function. Had definitive proof on Wednesday that my right hip hates going downhill. There are things that can be done about that, and the new exercises my chiropractor recommended have increased the right hip's flexibility.
Due to my taking after my mother, I have begun wearing compresson socks fairly often - one got hung up on my right foot the other day and I managed to flex the hip far enough I could reach the problem to fix it. Almost as big a deal as the day I realized it no longer hurt to put my socks on — all the men in my family could relate to that one.

Love you guys!
