As GOTV (get-out-the-vote) director for the Daily Kos activism team, I’m happy to report that our community is fired up and ready to go!
We recruited more than 50,000 volunteers for the November 2022 midterms. And with the Nevada vote count not quite finished (and thousands of ballots in limbo), we filled up the state Democratic Party’s ballot cure phone bank to its full capacity. If they are still taking signups, you should try to volunteer.
But everyone wants to know what they can do to help get out the Democratic vote in Georgia for the December 6th runoff. We must re-elect Senator Raphael Warnock, and there’s a lot you can do.
We recruited volunteers to write postcards with Blue Wave Postcards, but they sold out in less than 24 hours. So right now, my best advice is to start writing get-out-the-vote letters with Vote Forward. You have until Nov. 29 to drop those letters in the mail (for maximum effect to boost Georgia turnout), but I would recommend signing up this weekend to “adopt” voters, because they are running short there, too.
Starting next week, many organizations are setting up phonebanks and textbanks to get out the Democratic vote in Georgia.
Want to send text messages? NextGen America is the premier organization to reach young voters, and they start texting on Friday. If you want to reach voters of color, the Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda is starting their textbank on Thursday. Fair Fight (one of Stacey Abrams’ organizations) has a textbank training on Tuesday, and the Georgia Working Families Party has a texting party on Tuesday.
Sending text messages is an easy and low-stress activity, but campaigns actually have a greater need for phonebanking—where you use an autodialer to reach voters live and help them make a plan to vote.
I did phonebanking and textbanking for the November midterms, and learned that you can talk to and help the campaign identify a lot more voters in one hour of phonebanking rather than texting. A text message is a lot easier for people to ignore than a phone call.
So if you are willing to phonebank, here is the schedule: The Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda is calling voters of color on Wednesday, Fair Fight and the Working Families Party both start their phonebanks on Thursday, and NextGen America will be reaching young voters by phone on Friday.
And if you are really dedicated to helping us win this race, come to Georgia and go canvassing!
The Progressive Turnout Project is already seeking volunteers for their special on-the-ground canvass operation. And check out what opportunities there are with the Georgia Democratic Party.
Anything else? Please check back at our Daily Kos GOTV Page, and we will do our best to keep it updated.

Election Night 2022 was full of surprises—mostly for people pushing the last couple months of traditional media narrative of a "red tsunami." The problem is that Americans are not super into the GOP. Markos and Kerry have been saying the media narrative was wrong for months, and on Tuesday, Daily Kos and The Brief team was validated. Time to celebrate!
