Republicans have decided to air every bit of their shit and pissed stained laundry in public with the latest batch of “Fuck You and the Horse You Rode in On!” statements to Politico. And no, they aren’t aiming their ire at the ungrateful American voters (That is just getting started from what I hear). Instead, we get to see Republicans take a page from Democrats who have lost in the past: the infamous circular firing squad. This time, however, they are pouring gasoline on each other and lighting matches. And the walking entropy called Donald Trump appears to have more than enough heat to start the GOP blazes.
Republicans cringe as Trump 2024 approaches
The former president is expected to make a campaign splash at Mar-a-Lago Tuesday night. But even his staunchest allies aren't leaping to an endorsement.
And that is the tamest part of the article.
First up are the Republican Senators who have decided to stab the tryant Donald Trump dead, politically that is:
“The question is: who is the current leader of the Republican Party? Oh, I know who it is: Ron DeSantis,” said Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), citing the Florida governor’s blowout reelection win last week. “Ron DeSantis is the leader of the Republican Party, whether he wants to be or not.”
Et Tu Wyoming? I’m sure that Senator Lummis will not be on Trump’s Christmas list this year. And it appears that she has decided that 2026 is so far away that the voters in Wyoming will not remember her betrayal of the Orange Caesar.
Surely, the betrayal only runs to Lummis and that hideous Mitch McConnell?
Reeling Republicans gathered in Washington on Monday for the first time since September, with the Senate lost and the House majority barely on track after the party failed to topple Democratic governors outside of Nevada. Trump helped crown many of the party’s lackluster nominees who lost winnable races, from Senate contests in Arizona and Pennsylvania to House battles in Ohio and Michigan.
And his fixation on the 2020 election is getting old for Republicans of all stripes.
“Looking forward is always a better campaign strategy. Looking back on 2020 obviously didn’t work out. We ought to look forward,” said Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.).
That phrase of “looking forward” is one of those talking points that Republicans have agreed upon. I believe Senator Cassidy said the exact same thing this past Sunday. And I find it more than rich that the Senator from WV talks about “looking forward.” The entire state of WV is circling the drain and dreams of returning to days of yore when coal was king.
I should know because we do the same damn fuckin’ thing in Kentucky.
Anyway, Politico has found plenty of Republicans to go on the record to blame Trump or throw grenades at each other for the Red Ripple. And they even note that remora Lindsey Graham is taking a “wait and see what happens after the GA run off” before reaffirming his love of Trump. But there is one hilarious example of Republican infighting:
And Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), who led objections to President Joe Biden’s election victory, said his primary focus is on figuring out why congressional Republicans got their projections of a dominant election so wrong. Hawley is trying to oust Mitch McConnell as GOP leader, a key priority of Trump’s, though GOP leaders said on Monday they have no intention of delaying Wednesday’s leadership elections.
“Not to take anything away from folks who want to run for president, but the most important thing is, we’ve got to have a serious talk. And it’s got to start here, about what our convictions are as a party,” Hawley said.
He underscored that the GOP should incorporate elements of Trumpism as it moves forward. “There’ll be time for the personality contests later. And that’s no knock on the former president.”
I’m just gobsmacked. This is the man who should have The Beatles “Lady Madonna” played to his famous sprint of the ages during Jan 6th 2020. (See how they run!). And incorporate Trumpism into the party?? They already have Trumpism as part of the party!
Anyway, they also got a lot of little to no comments from the likes of Thune, Cotton, and Marshall.
As for the House, most of those lunatics are making noises like they want Trump, but it is not as full throated as you might think.
But what strikes me is that besides blame going to Trump, others in the fascist party are activ;ey scheming against one another. McCarthy will make Paul Ryan look like Otto von Bismark, and despite all his campaign cash, there are knives out for McConnell (he will survive, but it is interesting to see these would be leaders openly plot to remove McConnell).
However, this type of chaos is what you see from Democrats who lose. Normally, Republicans when they lose simply double down. They close ranks and fire away at Democrats. Instead, we have Republicans acting like monkeys in an overcrowded cage. Shit and piss are flying!
But most seem to agree that Trump taking the stage later today to say, “2024 Here I Come!” is a very, very bad thing.
And I couldn’t be happier.
