The future of the Republican Party is looking bleak. They have been reduced to a shell of what they once were in the House and the Senate, they are in disarray, and their only platform seems to be obstructing the progress of the Democratic Party. This was evident during the first 2 years of Biden’s Administration and will continue to be evident in the next 2 years as they attempt to block progress on issues like healthcare, climate change, funding for Ukraine, and of course shutting down the January 6th Committee investigating Donald Trump’s Involvement.
The Republican Party is no longer the party of Abraham Lincoln or even Ronald Reagan. It is a party that is controlled by special interests, lobbyists, and dark money and it has been that way for a long time. They have only become more blatant about them being a party of obstruction and division. Their only goal seems to be to prevent the Democratic Party from governing.
This was evident during Bidens first 2 years, they refused to compromise. They also refused to budge on other issues like Improving healthcare, Child Poverty, and climate change. Instead of working together to find solutions, they would rather just block progress.
The Republican Party is Doomed
The writing is on the wall for the Republican Party. They are a party in disarray, and they have no one to blame but themselves. I would like to encourage my fellow Democrats to remain hopeful about the outcome of the 2022 election and continue fighting for what they believe in. I want to remind them that we still have the Senate and the White House, and we can still make progress on our agenda. This was the worst performance in a midterm the republicans have ever had when a Democrat was in the White House, they are weak.
Also, this is not the republican party of even 10 years ago, they are no longer in lockstep on every decision, and I believe the infighting between them will inhibit them from doing much damage this time around. This was evident during the 2016 presidential election when Trump defeated 16 other candidates in the primaries. Those divisions within the party are still there they have just remained silent as long as trump was winning. Yes, we will have to endure investigations and possible impeachment hearings, and all they can do to cover up the crimes that Trump and many of them committed while in office. But ultimately, I believe that justice will be served, and the American people will see that this once-regarded political party is no longer fit to lead or even exist any longer after what they have done and continue to do to our democracy.
And that is why I say the future of the Republican Party is looking very bleak and their days are numbered. They are obstructionists, they are divided, and they are controlled by special interests. They have shown time and time again that they are more interested in obstructing progress than actually governing. The infighting within their ranks that has already begun will only get worse as their power continues to wane. I would encourage my fellow Democrats to remain hopeful and continue fighting for what we believe in. We still have control of the Senate and the Executive Branch, and we can still make progress on our agenda but it won’t be easy. So, let's stay focused on what's important and continue working towards a better future for all Americans.
It is my belief the more obstructionism and refusals to vote for any bill a democrat writes, and the more obviously vindictive congressional hearings with their antics in them will further cement support for the Democratic Party in 2024. Let’s remember the only reason they have control of the house, and that the senate was so close is directly related to the gerrymandering of districts in Florida and other states. The Republican party cannot win without cheating, through gerrymandering, voter intimidation, kicking voters off the roles and all the other undemocratic moves they make to make sure fewer people can vote. And that is because they have known since 1984 that if everyone voted they would never win another election again in most areas.
This is why I would support a Constitutional Amendment so that every state would be set up to vote like many of the western states already do, which means early voting, a book sent out with your ballot explaining each amendment so you have time to make an informed choice, Drop Boxes, same-day voter registration, being informed by phone when your ballot is received and once again when it has been counted, also a chance to fix it if there is a problem with verification, and all of this means your vote is on paper, which is the easiest thing to verify we have in elections. There are many solutions, this is not the time to despair it is the time to prepare!
