One of the buildings in the Carillon Historical Park in Dayton, Ohio is the Newcom Tavern. George Newcom and his family arrived in 1796 and built this structure in two phases between 1796 and 1799. The right side of the building was the family home, and the left side was the tavern. An important part of community life in Dayton, the tavern also served as a jail, church, general store, and the first county court house.
