Huff Post and others are reporting that the South Carolina Supreme Court has ruled unanimously that tfg’s former chief of staff, Mark Meadows, must indeed testify before the special grand jury in Georgia’s Fulton County looking into questions of election tampering and attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential contest in Georgia. The real money quote from the SCSC opinion:
the justices reviewed Meadows’ arguments and found them to be “manifestly without merit.”
Ouch! So why was this being adjudicated in South Carolina and not Georgia you may ask?
Because he doesn’t live in Georgia, she [Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis] had to use a process that involved getting a judge in South Carolina, where Meadows lives, to order him to travel to Atlanta to testify.
Which of course Meadows immediately appealed to the SCSC. So is he now going to appeal further to SCOTUS in an obviously futile effort to stave off the inevitable, or is he actually going to show up for his scheduled deposition tomorrow?
