It’s the home stretch, guys. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8. As of right this moment, that’s tomorrow. Which means if you’ve been saying all along that you were going to volunteer your time to help Democratic candidates and progressive causes win in 2022, this is your last chance.

Luckily for you, Daily Kos is your hookup for last-minute volunteering options. Read on for how you can make a difference, along with information about ballot measures and races that may be being overlooked, and what to watch for on Election Night.

NextGen America mobilizes young voters in key battleground states, both virtually and in person. Turnout by young voters could make the difference, and right now some news stories are giving us reason for optimism while others are giving us reason for pessimism. Either way, the right answer is to fight for every vote.
MoveOn, SwingLeft, and Sister District are all running virtual phonebanks and they need your help. Phonebanking is easier when you do it from home but still have a team of volunteers and trainers on Zoom to provide you with support. If phonebanking still isn’t your thing, textbanking is always an option. Sending out text messages is one of the most popular get-out-the-vote activities at Daily Kos, and many Democratic campaigns provide opportunities. Sign up now.

Why do we need to make such a big push?

Democracy itself is on the ballot in 20 states. Not just because of election denying candidates—although definitely also because of them—but directly via ballot measures affecting who can vote and how elections will work.
Abortion and reproductive rights are directly on the ballot in five states.
Other state ballot measures include criminal justice, the minimum wage, labor rights, expanding Medicaid, and more.
State supreme court races will determine the direction states go on all of the above issues and more, and after conservatives have spent years focusing on those races, progressives are finally starting to catch up.

On The Brief podcast we discuss what the polls are saying—and what the polls cannot predict. The traditional and right-wing narrative continues to champion polling that downplays Democratic candidates’ successes, while ignoring polling (including their own, in some cases) that flies in the face of that narrative. Either way, it does not change the fact that you need to get out and vote! And after you vote, make sure to encourage others to get out and vote—especially those younger folks in your life.
