Witness Ricky Jackson has not participated in any other OKer event since Jan. 6. And he testifies that he did speak to the FBI. Tarpley finishes his direct but before further questions, Judge Mehta calls for a sidebar.
Backing up a bit, things were moving fast as I was live-tweeting and live-blogging, but should also note that Jackson testified that roughly a half hour after he and fellow OKers gathered at the NE corner of the Cap, he says police threw flash bangs without warning at crowd.
Jackson said it was at this time that he felt it was time to leave because things became too rowdy. So he and his group left out for the Willard to drop off golf carts
On night of Jan 6, Jackson stayed at his hotel room at the Mayflower and left on 1/7 around 6 or 7am.
Prosecutor Alexandra Hughes on cross of Ricky Jackson. She elicits that he was part of the "Georgia OK general chat,” a Signal group he was a part of along with other Oath Keepers
Hughes displays a screenshot of the GA OK General Chat. Jurors see the msg "welcome Rick Jackson to the group. Glad to have you rick" sent by "JohnP" on 12/11.
"You joined this group on Dec. 11?” Hughes asks.
"I was added to the group, Jackson testifies.
Bilbo aka Brian Ulrich writes in this group on 12/15: “I need some OK (oath keeper) patches
Jackson responds: “I would also like to get some”
He doesn't have OKer gear at this point, no patches or insignia.
Hughes: Because you were new?
Jackson: Yes.
Then, another message is shown.
In it, we see Ulrich write on 12/19,"I know folks on the Donald.win site are saying they are coming armed but i think its the bodies that matter"
Hughes asks if this was the same day Trump invited people to DC.
It is.
Jackson testifies under Hughes cross that he did not book the room at the Mayflower. Roberto Minuta (OKer that goes on trial later for sedition) booked the room for him.
Hughes establishes that the group Jackson traveled in to protect Stone included: Mark Grods, Roberto Minuta, Joshua James, Brian Ulrich and himself (Ricky Jackson).
At the start of the video, we see Roberto Minuta. Jackson, when asked to ID him says, "I believe so (its him), yes." Now the video rolls, and its a view from the golfcart. This was posted on Minuta's Facebook.
Minuta narrates video, says he's headed to the Capitol building. "There's violence against patriots by DC police so we're en route in a grand theft auto golf cart to the capitol building right now."
A video is then shown from CCTV from inside the Capitol on Jan. 6 after people breached through the East Rotunda doors that lead directly to the rotunda of the US Capitol.
Jackson says he didn't know they were east rotunda doors and didn't know where they led.
Jackson affirms to Hughes again that he met with OKers after they exited the building.
Jackson asked again to identify Minuta's voice and again, Jackson says he "couldn't tell" There's an objection before we go further. Jackson lets out a small sigh and leans back in his seat as he puts on his glasses. He then turns to Judge Mehta jokingly and says, Can I object?
