Couldn't find a photo of the three Freedom Caucus members, but this is Zeldin, Meadows, Jordan, and Perry
“The committee recommended four Republican members of Congress to the House Ethics Committee for punishment for their failure to comply with the committee's subpoenas. Those four are: House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Reps. Andy Biggs, Jim Jordan and Scott Perry.”
According to a lengthy article on July 21, 2021 by Investigative Reporter Steve Reilly, there were sixteen GOP house members involved in trying to overturn the election. The following are just a few of the highlights of these four.
Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, Vice Chair of Freedom Caucus, Future Chair of the Judiciary Committee, and Member of the Oversight and Reform Committee.
Participated in early stages of White House Jan. 6 discussions: Jordan was part of a core group of four congressmembers or members-elect involved in raising the idea that Pence might have a role other than simply counting the electoral votes on Jan. 6, Hutchinson testified.
Amplified false election claims.
Developed strategy for overturning the election. Jordan and Perry participated in a Nov. 9 meeting with White House and campaign officials at Trump campaign headquarters in which “the group settled on a strategy that would become a blueprint for Trump’s supporters in Congress: Hammer home the idea that the election was tainted, announce legal actions being taken by the campaign, and bolster the case with allegations of fraud,” the New York Times reported in December 2021.
Participated in a December 21, 2021 meeting with Trump, Pence, Meadows, Giuliani to overturn the 2020 election. Mo Brooks (no longer in office), who also participated in the meeting, asked for a blanket pardon from Trump for all 11 GOP Reps who attended, and for more who didn’t attend. Meadows, Eastman, and Giuliani also asked for pardons.
Texted spurious legal theory to Meadows on eve of electoral certification: Pushed Eastman theory to Trump.
Spoke with Trump repeatedly on Jan. 6: “Trump called Jordan at 9:24 a.m. the day of the Capitol riot, according to records obtained by the Washington Post and CBS News, and the two spoke for 10 minutes. Jordan has said he spoke ‘a number of times that day’ with Trump but has not shared what the two discussed.”
Talked with Meadows on January 6th: Jordan has confirmed that he spoke with Trump on Jan. 6, and his office confirmed that he texted with Meadows the day before.
Discussed congressional pardons: He asked Cassidy Hutchinson to be updated on presidential pardons, but didn't ask for one himself.
Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa. Chairman of the Freedom Caucus, Member of Foreign Affairs Committee, and Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Developed strategy for overturning the election: Perry and Jordan were the two house members who helped develop the strategy for overturning the election. (Explained above)
Introduced lawyer Jeffrey Clark to Trump: According to White House visitor records obtained by the committee. “On Dec. 22, 2020, Perry came to the White House with Clark, according to White House visitor records obtained by the committee and presented at its fifth hearing on June 23. “He wanted Mr. Jeff Clark, to take over the Department of Justice,” Hutchinson testified. Clark pleaded the Fifth when asked if he knew Perry in testimony before the committee.
Participated in a December 21, 2021 meeting with Trump, Pence, Meadows, Giuliani to overturn the 2020 election. Mo Brooks (no longer in office), who also participated in the meeting, asked for a blanket pardon from Trump for all 11 GOP Reps who attended, and for more who didn’t. Meadows, Eastman, and Giuliani also asked for pardons.
Texted the Italian defense contractor conspiracy theory to Meadows on eve of electoral certification: “Meadows passed the email to DOJ leadership, and Donoghue was tasked with reviewing the video. “I emailed the acting attorney general, and I said ‘pure insanity,’ which was my impression of the video, which was patently absurd,” Donoghue testified.
Asked for a pardon.
Rep. Andy Biggs, R-AZ Former Chair of Freedom Caucus. Member of the Judiciary Committee, and Oversight and Reform Committee.
Amplified false election claims.
Pressured Arizona legislature to decertify electors: “Biggs called Republican Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers on the morning of Jan. 6 and “asked if I would sign on both to a letter that had been sent from my state and/or that I would support the decertification of the electors.”
Participated in planning conversations with Jan. 6 rally organizers: Two organizers behind the Jan. 6 rally in D.C. and others around the country said Biggs or an aide participated in planning discussions, Rolling Stone reported.
Named by “Stop the Steal” rally organizer as Jan. 6 co-planner: Biggs is one of three congressmen named by “Stop the Steal” rally organizer Alexander as helping plan Jan. 6, during a livestream that day.
Requested a pardon.
Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-CA: “In a Jan. 12 letter to McCarthy, the committee wrote that “notwithstanding the unacceptable violence that day, you nevertheless agreed to support continued objections to the electoral votes from multiple states late in the evening of January 6th and into the morning of January 7th.” The committee’s letter said it wanted to question McCarthy “regarding communications you may have had with President Trump, President Trump’s legal team, Representative Jordan, and others at the time on that topic.” In a statement responding to the letter, McCarthy said he would not participate and labeled the committee’s investigation as “illegitimate.”
All of this information is from an article on July 21, 2021 on GRID news, an online platform, which is funded by the Saudis, but I’ve confirmed all of it elsewhere. More information has surfaced since then. But, it presents some of reasons these men were referred to the House Ethics Committee.
