Hope Hicks texted a colleague on the evening of Jan. 6 this about Trump's Pence tweet: “Attacking the VP? Wtf is wrong with him."
The J6 committee played video of Hicks' testimony, in which she said at the end of her tenure in the Trump White House, she became "increasingly concerned" that Trump's unfounded claims of widespread election fraud would tarnish his legacy as president.
When pressed on Trump's response to these concerns, Hicks said he was more worried that his legacy would be damaged by defeat.
"He said something along the lines of, 'Nobody will care about my legacy if I lose...The only thing that matters is winning,'" Hicks said.
In a separate video testimony played during Monday's hearing, Hicks said she suggested Trump issue a statement encouraging Jan. 6 protesters to be non-violent, but that he "refused."
"Mr. Herschmann had said he had made the same recommendation directly to the president and that he had refused," she said, referring to a White House lawyer.

Hoo boy, Donald Trump is having a day. It seems he wakes up early every morning, realizes his life is in absolute shambles, and takes to Truth Social to scream about how crappy his life is. Of course he blames everyone else for his problems, as Trump isn’t big on personal responsibility. At least not for him.
In a string of posts, Trump lashed out at 2024 surveys that show him losing to Ron DeSantis. To back his claim, Trump posted the numbers from the latest Harvard/Harris poll — which show him leading DeSantis 48-25. That poll is much different that the USA Today survey from earlier this week, which shows Republicans prefer DeSantis 56-33, and that 61 percent of Republicans don’t even want Trump to run.
Trump said, “The Democrats will do anything not to run against me, MAGA, and putting AMERICA FIRST. Remember, they are the Party of MISINFORMATION, constantly saying the opposite of what they really want. I am beating everybody in the REAL Polls, by a lot, so they say, “Gee, we want to run against Trump,” at the same time they spend $Millions to try and beat me, hoping for another candidate. I devoured them in 2016, and again, with much bigger numbers, in 2020, but that Election was RIGGED. MUST DO IT AGAIN!”
