In January I posted an article “The bigger danger posed by Kyrsten Sinema is running for President as an independent.” which was not well received. Which is fine. I’m not posting for Recs. I’m posting because I feel this is a real danger.
The basic premise is that Sinema’s corporate masters want a Republican to win in 2024. As part of that strategy they will support Kyrsten Sinema as an independent spoiler trying to pull off just a few percentage points from Biden. She doesn’t need to get big support, she just needs to pull more from Biden than she does from the Republican.
It will be a “strangely” well funded campaign but only in certain states. Commercials will place her to the left of Biden on certain issues while pumping her quirky independence with lots of pictures of her outfits in the Senate.
Her usefulness in Arizona as a Senator has ended as it’s clear she will be primaried and lose. She could run as an independent for Senator to spoil the Senate race, but she would have more value spoiling the Presidential race.
In order to do this, switching to independent now means she will avoid looking like a sore loser after getting creamed in the Democratic Presidential Primary and then declaring as an Independent. Instead, she can declare she is running for President at an appropriate point to hijack the news cycle when it’s a poor one for the Republicans.
She will ride a TON of free news throughout the next two years allowing corporate media to write plenty of stories how Biden is in trouble. They will focus on both places where Sinema is to the left of Biden but also tout endlessly how she is able to work with both sides of the isle.
Sinema’s ego appears to be big enough that she will believe her corporate supporters when they lie to her that she has a shot to win. She doesn’t. They just want her as a spoiler. If she appears to be hurting the Republican more than Biden her money, free news, and other support will disappear instantly. But so long as she is pulling votes from the left, it is a win for her corporate masters.
