Brittany Griner did. Was the Russian reaction way over the top and deserving of intervention by the U.S.? ABSOLUTELY! Am I glad she’s home? SURE? Do I feel sorry for her? Absolutely not! But, the media does. Poor Brittany — evil Russia!
Let us not forget who started all of this with an “OOPS! I forgot.” as her excuse — perhaps with a healthy dose of entitlement added. Brittany Griner broke the law and would have been breaking it by entering a variety of other countries whose penalties would have been much less severe and political.
If I were entering Russia, I would disinfect cloths that might have the smell of marijuana on them from a party I attended a year before. I advised a relative not to carry a huka into Bermuda years ago and he was caught at customs for the residue in the bowl, paid a fine, was allowed to stay for his vacation but was prevented from going back to the country for five years. We have a long running show in the U.S showing how customs in different countries catch people bring drugs into U.S. You don’t need a high I.Q. or a PhD in probability to know not to do that.
How stupid or entitled do you have to be to enter the country of a sworn enemy of the U.S. with an illegal substance in your luggage? And how many millions of dollars did the U.S. government spend to get her back, all while Ukrainians starve and are tortured in Russian prisons and need more humanitarian aid to make it through winter.
So, too bad, so sad, Brittany! Glad you’re back. But when are you going to pay “we the people” back for extracting your ass from jail and then spend some of those millions you’ve made by throwing a ball through a circle on people who really need it. And, when are you going to make a public apology to your country for making such a consequential and dumbass mistake? And, when is the media going to end its pity party and start focusing on the people in the U.S. who really need our sympathy and financial aid?
