So Senator Rick Scott and ex-president Trump have, between them, come out with the GOP agenda for 2022, and it’s a doozy:
- Raise taxes on everybody, especially ordinary workers and retirees.
- Slash the IRS budget and workforce, to guarantee that they will never have the resources to go after rich tax cheats. Under GOP rule, taxes will really be “for the little people” only!
- “Sunset” the Social Security Act, the Medicare law, the Civil Rights Act, the Americans With Disabilities Act, and the minimum wage (among others — by which they mean all US federal legislation), so that they will expire five years from now. After all, Scott tells us, “If a law is worth keeping, Congress can pass it again.” (Hint: the GOP will not allow any of these laws to pass again — not if they can help it!)
- Ban books, because America.
- Put politicians in charge of what teachers can and can't teach, because America.
- Putin First, because screw America.
And there’s still more, but this is a good start.
It's quite a platform! I wonder if Democrats can figure out how to run against it?
