Greetings DK’ers. This is my first “story” so a quick thanks to all who have made me feel so welcome here. I am a 59 year old Colorado widow, a “far leftist wacko” according to the right wing, so I figure I’m in good company here. Now, on with the story (rant).
So… Tyranny and Invasion. I have been listening to the these two words for the past few years. A virtual army of crybabies on the right have been screaming, yelling and posting sadly moronic memes about how their country has been taken over, followed by laughable pictures of doughy middle aged white guys pretending to do military drills in their backyards in preparation to “defend the homeland”. Who can blame them? I mean, they, on a daily basis, face the abject horror of Tyranny when they have to wear a 6 inch piece of cloth over their face for 20 minutes while buying the latest foreign made crap at War-Mart. They face the Tyranny of an “illegitimate” ruling party who stole an election, even though they can’t actually prove the election was stolen, they just know in their blessed little hearts that Donald Trump couldn’t possibly have lost an election after telling the world to drink disinfectant or use UV rays to stop Covid. They face the world destroying (American Apocalypse as Fox called it) Tyranny of the left and their crazy ideas like equality and justice for all, a livable wage, a safe healthy populace, a well built infrastructure, dealing with climate change, bodily autonomy, and the fact that people should be allowed to marry whoever they love. Yeah, we are such fucking vicious tyrants over here on the left.
Steve Bannon has been ranting about the Tyranny of a “woke military” full of gays and women and how horribly weak that makes us compared to the Russian and Chinese militaries. Really Stevie boy? I wonder how many “Alpha Male” Russian soldiers died at the hands of that “woke” Ukranian woman in my headline photo? Do you think the parents of those dead Russian kids are less, or more upset because their sons were killed by a woman defending her freedom? Do you wonder how this bad ass Russian “Alpha Male” military keeps.. well, running out of fucking gas? (We’ll take over your country... if we ever find any fuel!!) Do you think bombing apartment buildings, hospitals and schools makes you “Alpha” or “Not Woke”? Woke? Yeah, my gay son is a medic in the army, his husband is an Iraqi veteran, and they adopted 2 special needs children no “good Christian pro-life” family wanted. That is the actual definition of “WOKE” you pathetic, alcoholic blob of puss.
Invasion. How many Republicans have you heard screaming about how we are being “invaded”? Apparently a few thousand people a month crossing the border, seeking a better life for their families is exactly as disturbing as having the Russian military bomb, strafe, attack, and drive tanks through your neighborhood. Whatever will the right do? Maybe they can hide in the subway bomb shelters praying for the lives of their children while avoiding the abject terror of an “invasion” of migrant workers and decent authentic Mexican food.
I had hoped on that first night that Putin started his actual invasion, that some on the right might just take a step back and realize their insane hyperbole is nothing but a huge steaming pile of bullshit and at the very least, just STFU and let the grown ups deal with reality. Yeah right. Not good enough for the “Better Russian than Democrat” crowd. Not only did they not, once again, dig up an ounce of self reflection, they fucking doubled down praising “smart” Putin and his “genius” invasion. Hell MTG decided that in the middle of all this it was a good idea to go over to AFPAC and play footsie with the Nazis. Yes they are Nazis, Nick Fuentes was very upset that Putin was being compared to Hitler in a bad way because you know, Hitler was right according to them. They cheered Russia and chanted Putins name while he is busy murdering women and children and bombing schools and hospitals. Next I’m sure we’ll be hearing about how they’re first amendment rights are being violated, they’re being cancelled, or in MTG’s case “I didn't know they were Nazi’s, I was just speaking to the nice white Conservative Christian Boys there”. Yeah she actually said that.
These last few years have been a rollercoaster of hope and horror. A million dead Americans and they still can’t manage to muster an ounce of sympathy or intelligence enough to do the absolute minimum to keep their country safe. Even the “scare” websites that show anti-vaxxers who have died from Covid don't seem to be able to penetrate the concrete bunker that lives in their heads. Now we have an unprovoked, horrific invasion of a Democratic society and a contingency of Americans cheering this on.
So it looks like the ride this week is going to be horror on a scale not seen in a long time. Is there any hope left for us? Yes, and that “woke” woman in the photo is giving it to us. She’s not in her backyard cosplaying soldier against an enemy that doesn't really exist, she’s not crying about Dr Fauci or Joe Biden on the internet, she’s not berating the kid behind the counter at Burger King, she’s not bragging about what an “Alpha” she is. She’s desperately defending her home, her family and her friends with a level violence she never dreamed she would have to use or be capable of.
But go ahead, Trumpistas, cry about the border, about who’s in the bathroom, about wearing a mask, getting a vaccine, about books in school, gay marriage and CRT. It makes you look so, so… Alpha.
