Judge Amy Clark Meachum broadens her temporary injuction
As the linked article states, District Court Judge Amy Clark Meachum has expanded her temporary injunction against the Texas DFPS. At first, the injunction only kept the DFPS from investigating the family and psychologist named as plaintiffs in the lawsuit. The new broadening basically puts all DFPS investigations into gender-affirming care as child abuse on hold pending the outcome of the case. This must be a titanic weight off the shoulders of the families the DFPS had already begun to investigate under Gov. Abbott’s bigoted direction (as it isn’t even an executive order), and any others who feared they might have been next. The ones I feel for the most are the trans kids who were just considering coming out of the closet, but have been driven deeper in by Abbott and Paxton’s actions. Of course, that was the point all long; drive those out back in and those who might come out deeper into the closet. Here is hoping this cruel tyranny is firmly defeated when the case goes to trial in July.
Still, for now it is only right to say thank you to District Court Judge Amy Clark Meachum.
