Was it CYA? Apparently Roger Stone covered his ass and bailed, but it's not clear whether it was before or during the 1/6 attack. Until there’s indictments, it’s underpants gnomes grifting a “plan” to make Trump POTUS again.
Roger Stone’s unhinged quest to overturn the 2020 election for Donald Trump involved a sizable side hustle of lobbying for presidential pardons—including preemptive pardons for lawmakers like Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Jim Jordan (R-OH).
The vast “Stone Plan” was detailed for the first time on Friday by The Washington Post, which reviewed more than 20 hours of footage from a documentary crew who trailed Stone for two years. The footage also covered Stone’s involvement in the “Stop the Steal” movement and his mad dash to leave Washington, D.C., after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
Once he arrived back in Florida after the Capitol riot, Stone began lobbying for a wide range of pardons, including preemptive pardons for lawmakers who tried to delay or block the certification of Joe Biden’s electoral win—and a blanket pardon for himself, of course. (Stone’s prison sentence for impeding a congressional investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election had been commuted by Trump in 2020.)
He detailed his plan in a five-page memo to the president, urging him to “pardon a movement” and “give the Deep State the finger,” according to a copy obtained by the Post. Other lawmakers named in the plan included Reps. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), and Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), the Post reported.

The plan to put Trump back in office according to Roger Stone includes Trump as Speaker of the House, the removal of President Biden and VP Harris and then Trump becomes President.
After he left Washington, Stone lobbied for Trump to enact the “Stone Plan” — a blanket presidential pardon to shield himself, Trump’s allies in Congress and “the America First movement” from prosecution for trying to overturn the election, according to the footage and additional documents reviewed by The Post.
The Ford Pardon of former President Richard M. Nixon has demonstrated, without any successful challenge in any court, that the president has the sole authority to pardon any individual "for crimes he committed or may have committed", which is precisely the language that must be used by White House lawyers in a series of pardons that are now imperative to protect a broad swath of Americans who had the audacity to support Donald Trump for president.
But the plan, along with a bid by Stone to win pardons for other Trump backers including convicted mobsters, was ultimately thwarted by White House counsel Pat Cipollone, Stone said in several conversations that were filmed.
“Clearly, Cipollone f---ed everybody,” Stone told Steven Brown, a friend then in federal prison in Oregon for a fraud conviction, during a call on Jan. 19, 2021. Cipollone was aware of Stone’s requests for pardons and opposed them, according to a person familiar with the situation, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss confidential matters.
“See you in prison,” Stone wrote that evening in a message to another Trump associate.

In Stone’s words:
In the wake of the widespread irregularities and anomalies in the 2020 Presidential Election, many Trump supporters, conservatives, Christians, Republicans, Libertarians, Free Thinkers and those who recognize the establishment’s agenda to radically change America are discouraged, disheartened, and, in many cases, just plain scared. These fears have been compounded by the mainstream corporate-owned media’s unwillingness to report accurately about the overwhelming evidence of both fraud and corruption.
[...]
However, this is not a time for retreat or defeatism. The Bible tells us definitively that good triumphs in the end and that God hates injustice, corruption, and evil. Our politics are no longer just a partisan contest between two parties who love America but have different governing principles.
When I said that I viewed the fight for America’s future in apocalyptic terms as “a struggle between light and dark; […] between God and the godless, […] between good and evil and that we are struggling to preserve not only our Constitution but western civilization as we know it” – CNN accused me of advocating violence.
Let me be clear. The statement of my Christian values, and my ominous view of the fight ahead of us, in no way advocates for or justifies violence. The accusation that it does is naked religious bigotry. Ad hominem attacks such as this are the reason I do not trust CNN.
There is a way forward, but four major initiatives must be completed in order to change the direction of the United States. I call it Roger Stone’s P.L.A.N. To Save America. We only have a short 17 months until the 2022 Congressional elections, so we must act with urgency to implement my 4 step plan. We must Protect our elections,
Leave big tech,
Abandon the RINO’s, and
Nominate America First candidates.
