To start with some good news, last month, someone was able to get my car working again — turns out that the alternator was good, but the battery was dead. or nearly so. That meant that I could finally get to (relatively) nearby centers in Louisville’s "Neighborhood Place" network, which is usually “helpy”, but occasionally helpful. Even better news is that, for once, it turned out to be helpful, in that I was able to put in a hardship application for LIHEAP, without needing to make an appointment or deal with having to call anyone (other than LG&E) on the phone. It didn't pay all that I owe LG&E, but did cover enough to get them to turn my power back on, and they waived the reconnection fees. (I still owe $394.67, but may qualify for other assistance, and LG&E isn’t going to ask for all of it at once.) Additional good news is that home internet/wi-fi is still on, so I don't have to ration data when at home, and that the ACP finally came though. The ISP has sent a past-due notice for what the ACP didn't cover, so I don't know how long that will last, but for now, it's good.
The bad news is that they were very “helpy” when it comes to applying for rent assistance. They told me I had to wait until March 31 to call to make an appointment to turn in paperwork asking for assistance, but were definite about saying that I should call on that date and make an appointment. So I called on March 31, and all I got was a recording saying to call after March 31. (Grr. Argh.) I kept trying, and kept getting that same recording, until now, when the recording is saying that appointments will not be available. This is bad, folks. I didn't say anything about it earlier because I was counting on being able to make that appointment on the 31st. (They didn’t say “after” or “maybe”. They were definite, and I trusted that definiteness.) Not being able to do that then, or now, is very, very not-good. I was able to get through to the voicemail for the Humane Society's help line on the 31st, but I still haven't heard back from them. I assume I’ll need to call again. I hope they’ll be able to help some — and soon.
Anyway...
$1,000 for February and March (includes late fees), $500 for April (includes late fee).
$36.90 for property tax, which I have to pay by the 15th.
$394.67 for remaining back charges for LG&E, but that's not all due at once. I'll know more about how that breaks down with my next bill arrives. I’m guesstimating that will be on the order of $150.00, part of which will be applied to the remaining back amount.
$9.56 past due to the ISP, but they’re invoicing me for $53.84, which includes the current month’s bill.
So, throwing in misc. expenses (food, litter, TP, gas and oil for car, I’m estimating $2450. PayPal is dharden40219@yahoo.com — select “Send to a friend”, and PayPal doesn’t charge a fee.
Thanks to all of you!
