It’s also my birthday. I’m 69. The last time this happened, I was 7; the next time, I will be 80.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

The grandkids ended up doing school online on Monday. It snowed overnight and was cold enough it stuck until mid-afternoon.
My firstborn had her birthday on Tuesday. She had the day off work. The celebration, such as it was, was her going out early and bringing home some Coco Donuts. I gave her a 20 oz travel mug — really elegantly wrapped, too. I left it in the box it came in and did nothing else.
Due to a school field trip on Wednesday, there was a switch about which day my grandson went home with his classmate, and I completely forgot to keep track of the time on Thursday, which is the usual day of the week that I don’t have to pick him up. My daughter had to call me, and I was late to the school; but I got him to the neighbor that wants his help walking dogs on time.
My stepfather has been taken back to Washington by his daughters. My mother is delighted that she will never have to deal with the daughters again. I’ll believe that when it happens.
