As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Morning my friends… and welcome to another Saturday… I am visiting with friends this week, and so i decided to write this one ahead of time, and it… sort of turned into a bit of a rant… enjoy -giggles-
There used to be dozens of companies that provided audiobooks. Now. we are down to a bare hand full, and for most people, when you mention audiobooks, the only option they can think of is audible. Don’t get me wrong, you all know me. I have been an audible customer for -years-, and I enjoy nearly every book that I have gotten from them over the years But my question is, with as much money as Amazon, Audile's corporate overlord, makes every year, why isn’t every book they offer in print and kindle, available to their audible customers? And while we are asking questions… why the heck can’t they afford to give their visually and physically disabled customers a break? Yes. being an audible member gets me a ‘discount’ on every audio book I buy that isn't purchased with audible credits. but its =still= a fortune, cut from the already merger pittance the government has decided that disabled individuals deserve to try and live on. So. I guess what I am asking is this… Is there really any reason Amazon -needs- to make nearly three times the cover price of a print book on every audio copy, and -still- not provide audio for -every- book in their library?
