Only One Thing will stop these Shooting Massacres.
One thing and one thing only would have stopped or eliminated the Uvalde elementary school shooting that killed two teachers, and nineteen school children, injured fifteen other children and forever will torment countless others including families of the victims and other students. It does not matter if the shooter was either a sadistic homicidal lunatic ’ or a Rhodes Scholar genius. The one thing that would have stopped this massacre of the innocents would have been if he were either not allowed to buy two automatic rifles, additional military gear including a protective vest and a laser sight for the rifles, and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition. We can point out the incompetencies and cowardice of the police department that allowed the shooter the extra ten minutes to enter the school and the hour-plus to continue firing shoots within the school walls. The shooter should not have been allowed to purchase these guns and the accompanying military equipment. The store where he purchased all of this equipment should have been required by law to report this massive $3,500 purchase. At the minimum, he should have undergone a background check of at least five days. This would have given him no time to pick up the guns, etc. allowing the school year which ended on Thursday to end without incident and thus saving the lives of 21 people.
We need tougher gun laws. No one, especially 18-year-olds, needs military assault weapons and over 1,000 rounds of bullets. The Uvalde shooter was a coward, regardless of being either crazy or sane. He knew that those two teachers and eighteen students would be unarmed and defenseless. I guarantee you that without those weapons, he would not have gone to that elementary school and tried to either injure or kill those that he did by throwing rocks at them. The problem is the availability and easy access to guns and military-style weapons. The same is the case with the Buffalo, NY. shootings of two weeks ago. That shooter also knew that those ten mostly elderly people that he killed and the three that he injured would also be unarmed and defenseless. He may have been as crazy, less, or crazier than the Uvalde shooter. I guarantee that he would not have driven over two hundred miles during a three-hour road trip to Buffalo to throw rocks at those 13 people with the intent to kill people whom he did not even know. It is not the state of mind of these two 18-year-old shooters as well as others that are the primary cause behind these shooters and their cowardly intended deeds. It is the ability and easy access for them to acquire these guns, assault rifles, and accessory military equipment. When is enough, enough? When are these killings going to stop?
We need to get those politicians, both federal and state out of the pockets of the NRA and gun lobbyists. We need to remove them from office and replace them with those people who will be less selfish and more willing to save the lives of our senior citizens, our children, and other adults. If we do not do this, then we will see more violence and more massacres until we have wars break out as well as the breakdown of our country and laws.
The right to own guns is not greater than the right for people to live.
