It’s 2010 all over again for Sen. Ron Johnson. And 2012 and 2014 and 2016 and 2018…. The Wisconsin Republican just can’t let go of Obamacare. Even after Democrats retook the House in 2018 on one resounding issue—protecting care for people with preexisting health conditions—Johnson just can’t let it go.
Just a few days ago, Johnson insisted that we have to go back to the bad old days when people with chronic and serious illnesses were thrown into expensive, bare-bones coverage high-risk pools.
He really is not the brightest bulb on the string, clinging onto this nonsense all these years later after multiple failures by Republicans on the issue. And after his own unforced error a few months ago when he called for full Obamacare repeal and had to retract his statement the next day.
“For example, if we’re going to repeal and replace Obamacare—I still think we need to fix our health-care system—we need to have the plan ahead of time so that once we get in office, we can implement it immediately, not knock around like we did last time and fail,” Johnson said in an interview with Breitbart News Radio. (Perhaps his staff should stop booking him on radio shows. This seems to be a bit of a problem for him.)
