What is there to say about Fox News and the right wing-o-sphere that hasn’t been scratched by the nails of demons into the toilet stall walls of hell? Every day, every hour, every minute, Fox News and the propaganda machines it has birthed are selling their audience lies, misinformation, and disinformation about the world, or selling them pillows, telling them to sell their gold, and saying that the way out of debt is to give Magnum P.I. your home in a reverse mortgage.
There has been a relentless barrage of bombshells in the two publicly televised Jan. 6 committee hearings. Soon to come is the promise of Fox News personality Sean Hannity’s previously leaked texts freaking out like the rest of the world about Donald Trump’s apparent hours of impotency during the siege on the grounds of our nation’s Capitol. Fox News?
Well ...
Let’s first remember how on Jan. 4, 2021, Sen. Josh Hawley argued against Fox News hosts about how the 12th Amendment allows Hawley the power to overturn the votes of millions of Americans he doesn’t agree with.
You might remember those glorious few weeks between November when Fox News was the first to call Arizona for Joe Biden through until late January, when it became clear that the GOP was going to commit both supporting Donald Trump and his attempted coup, and trying to downplay the fact that what had occurred was a failed coup d’etat. They did show some of the committee hearing, though. That’s something.
But that was short-lived. This is what actually happened during the hearing.
Tucker Carlson, long gone through the looking glass, has been throwing out the kind of disinformation about the events of Jan. 6 that might once have gotten even pretend newscasters fired. During Thursday’s hearing, when the Jan. 6 committee showed the receipts of Trump’s anti-democracy strategist John Eastman asking for get-out-of-jail-free cards after the failed coup, Fox News went with this angle.
To be clear, they designed their coverage very strategically.
But the lion’s share of what Fox News covers is how best to be racist and sexist all at the same time. Did you know Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t speak Spanish? You didn’t? Of course you didn’t, silly billy, because it isn’t true. Did you know that the “Hispanic community” wants nothing to do with electric vehicles? You didn’t? See above. Well, MTV’s Real World alumni Rachel Campos-Duffy, best known for being married to fellow MTV Real World alumni and former Wisconsin Rep. Sean Duffy, speaks for the entire Hispanic community on Fox News.
But once again, consider this fact.
