Amidst all the post-Uvalde mass murder articles floating around, found this little nugget: Stocks of major firearm makers jumped the morning after an 18-year-old gunman killed at least 21 people at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. Americans tend to stock up on firearms after mass shootings in anticipation of potential restrictions and, as a result, drive up gunmakers’ stocks.
Yep, getting people riled up about the government “coming to take our guns” is a great way to drive gun sales. How pathetic!
History repeating itself makes me sad, and knowing that every % OFF in this piece is a precious life lost makes me sadder.
While we have the right to bear arms — and, yes, I have a gun! — we need common sense gun reform to keep AR-15s out of the hands of teenagers... and perhaps adults, too! We, the people, need our guns for protection and sport, not to create carnage, which is what AR-15s were designed to do. We do not need the AR-15! It would be great to ban them, but that’s wishful thinking, so barring that, let’s “regulate” the hell out of ‘em: must be 21 to buy; registration required; background check required; mandatory training; and maximum 10-round magazine capacity.
As I was posting this, I saw there was another shooting in Iowa! Didn’t catch any details. Pray there wasn’t an AR-15 involved.
