My grandson is helping his mother with the laundry today. I don’t think he actually minds, but she seemed to think it was a proper penalty for him not cleaning food scraps and juice boxes out of his backpack before they rotted and stank her living room up.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

I think this was covered here on Daily Kos when it was news a month ago, but Stanford will soon have the Doerr School of Sustainability.
What ancient genes tell us about who we are.

I am getting tired of getting fundraising emails from people I gave money to less than 24 hours before. I understand why it’s happening, but I am getting really tired of it.
My grandson’s fourth-grade class had a field trip last week. To the Frida Kahlo exhibit at the Portland Art Museum. I don’t know about any of his classmates, but my grandson had already been to it — their dad took him and his sister last month.
Next Friday is the last day of school for this academic year in Portland Public Schools. My grandson says he will have two new classmates in fifth grade. My granddaughter will be a junior next year.
My niece’s son just graduated high school. He’s the oldest of that generation on my side. I think it’s my middle nephew who has the youngest, but I’m not altogether sure.

I am so sick of hearing that the odds aren’t in Democrats’ favor for the elections this fall or for 2024. Yes, I think Democrats should blow their own horn as often as the Republicans do (Democrats certainly have better reason to); but I am so tired of being told that all the dirty tricks that have been pulled over the last six years mean nobody who cares about anything but staying in power could possibly win election in some of the more conservative states.

Love you guys!
