North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson has made headlines again for his cringe-worthy comments. After claiming women’s bodies aren’t their own and that God says abortions are wrong, Robinson is now claiming that Christians are “called to be led by men,” not women.
According to WRAL, Robinson made the comments during a Charlotte area church congregation on May 23. They were part of his recommendation for men to “put on the whole armor of God” and “take the head of your enemy in God’s name.” Condemning social justice movements, Robinson called on men to follow the “doctrine of Jesus Christ,” claiming that if they follow movements of social justice, “they will be on their way to hell.”
He used his identity to appeal to his audience, noting that as both a Christian and a Black man, he was tired of being told how to act.

“Not one time in my life when I faced adversity did I say, ‘You know, I shall overcome,’” Robinson said. “My God tells me that when I face adversity that, number one, I am to stand up like a man! M-A-N!”
Of course, Robinson knew his comments were controversial, because like other times before making such comments, he noted he was “getting ready to get in trouble.”
“We are called to be led by men,” he said, which brought applause and some shouts of agreement. “God sent women out … when they had to do their thing, but when it was time to face down Goliath, [He] sent David. Not Davita, David.”
He continued by noting that in the Bible, God sent Moses to lead the Israelites.
“Not Momma Moses,” he said. “Daddy Moses.”
Robinson also claimed God “knew what he was doing when he made men big and hairy and ugly.”
“It’s because you’re supposed to scare away predators, whether they’re in the woods or standing in front of your kids in elementary school,” he continued.
Not only did he use his speech as an opportunity to advocate that men are better leaders than women, but he used the visit to promote his autobiography, which is scheduled to be published later this year.
The book is titled We are the Majority: The Life and Passions of a Patriot. According to WRAL, the title is from a previous speech of Robinson’s that went viral in 2018. That speech, which was about gun rights, allegedly helped launch his political career.
According to Barnes & Noble's description, the book will document his life as the first Black lieutenant governor of North Carolina.
“If you’d like to find out some fascinating stories about Mark Robinson, the crazy guy who screamed at the city council and became lieutenant governor, go on Amazon to buy the book,” Robinson said.

Robinson is expected to run in 2024 for governor. He is currently on an extended tour of the state’s churches. According to WRAL, more than half of the state’s registered voters are women, which could spell B-A-D news for Robinson’s election.
